About Moran/Brown

Anne Moran and Robert Brown are a creative team living in Wilmington, North Carolina.

They are best known for abstract wall sculptures, with rich colors achieved by torching sheets of copper. Spontaneity directs the creation process, according to Moran and Brown. They pride themselves in utilizing the reflective quality of metal alongside oxidized pigments, to original effect.

The team have been commissioned by hotels, financial institutions, and medical facilities across the United States. Most recent is a large installation behind the reception desk of the Setai Hotel in New York City.

I feel like I've seen it before. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty and everything. I wouldn't mind having something like that in my house, it's just soooo many artists want to do the whole abstract thing and then they all blend together. I'm saying that maybe instead of doing abstract, go normal but make the colors and the meaning of the art pop!

my rug samples are more colorful and it definitely reminds me of the shingles on my house. will we ever evolve beyond this abstact mismush we have seen for more than a half century?
