About Camilla

Camilla Engman grew up in a small Swedish town named Trollhattan. This is where she began looking at life from a perspective that most of us see only momentarily, and just a few are able to record. Camilla practiced her skills at the Dome Art School and later at the School of Design and Craft, Gothenburg University, where she acquired a Master of Fine Arts degree.

Often through animals or people, Camilla’s pictures inspire their audience with a wide range of feelings. Her work has a knack of allowing you to grasp a notion without robbing you of your personal interpretation, regardless of whether it’s an acrylic painting, paper-on-paper or mixed media.

I LOVE the bottom painting -the long shadows..., the opportunity to peek into the building on the left..., the winding roadway..., and his silly orange outfit. What great juxtaposition!

Top Painting ~ the rays coming up in the horizon, behind the clouds could mean the arrival of something (Spring, hope, life, salvation). The woman holding something - if a dog could mean the absence of love as there is no trace of a dog; if a rosary could mean she is saying the rosary and progressing through the beads while the spiritual East is sending hope of better times. The men, as well as the woman, are aloof which could imply the hands off attitude of society, the heightened individualism of progressive technology or the absense of grace.

One of my favorite artists. Her work is beautiful, thought-provoking, and unusual.

Anyone have an idea about the object in the girl's hand? Dog leash, rosary? What do the rays from the ship mean?

painting on the top much more thought invoking. I wonder why nobody in the picture is looking at it. the sailor might be withe one eye.I woulr rather be onthe boat looking back at the city.

This work is absolutely wonderful! It reminds me of a simpler time in history and the mysticism of a sea coast town. Great work!
