About Jewelle

Of Chinese and Filipino descent, Jewelle Yeung spent her formative years split between Hong Kong and the Philippines. After completing her under graduate in Fashion design and Technology at the University of the Arts, and obtaining a Masters Degree at the City and Guilds of London Art School for Fine Art, she spent the early part of her career working in London as a designer for Hussein Chalayan and Puma Black Label. Since then she has left the Fashion world to devote her time to painting.

Jewelle’s paintings often deal with the space between reality and the dream, constantly influenced by changing landscapes and different energies that coexist on the same plain. She is intrigued by the dichotomy of the conscious mind and the connection this has with emotion. Inspired by nature and the notion of the unknown, Jewelle uses vivid strokes and soft blends through oil, to create subliminal landscapes with morphed representations of familiar organisms, encapsulating the transition between reality and the surreal.

After fifteen years of living abroad, Jewelle now works and lives in Hong Kong and the Philippines. She continues to paint while exploring other forms of practice including set design, branding, illustration, and architecture.
