About Thomas

Thomas Sayre studied at University of North Carolina, University of Michigan, and Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Growing up in the shadow of Washington National Cathedral, he developed early love and respect for natural materials. He has designed and built public art projects all over the world and has been part of the design team for civic, educational, and museum buildings.

Together with the architect Steve Schuster, he produce lighting, furniture, terrazzo floors, and specialty surfaces, under the agency name Clearscapes.

While he occasionally produces studio pieces, most of his work is public. It is here where the idea of producing art intersects with the realities of life. Sayre is of the belief that art will work only when opinions come together through collaboration to form a coherent vision.

His work has been exhibited in and around North Carolina.

Extremely well-done, well-thought and, well, enjoyable as well. The artist's website was fascinating. I'll go back to look again more thoroughly.
