Bradley's selections

Erika Sanada

San Francisco, CA

"

I first met Erika in 2012 during her time as a graduate student at AAU in SF. The first piece she showed with us was actually a graphite drawing. She later invited us to see her sculptural work during a studio visit, and after she graduated, we were thrilled to present her debut US solo exhibition ‘Odd Things’ in 2013. She has a style that is so uniquely her own, and has really pushed the boundaries of her medium. I’m so proud of Erika’s blossoming career, and of her numerous artistic achievements.

Emilio Villalba

San Francisco, CA

"

Emilio is a great guy and a fantastic painter. Here is an artist that has spent the last several years since grad school painting every day, teaching others, and perfecting his skills. He has always been driven by experimentation, which has led him to develop such a signature style. I have been working with Emilio since we first opened in 2010. We booked his first solo exhibition last year, where he sold out all 36 paintings. I’m thrilled to be able to support this local SF artist who is on such an incredible trajectory. I’m always so excited to see what he will do next.

"

Redd Walitzki

Seattle, WA

"

Redd is a great example of an artist who is constantly innovating. Her process is so complex, and her mediums are so unique, that it’s always a pleasure to follow her works in progress, which have a beautiful way of changing and building momentum up until the point they arrive at the gallery. Her drawing and foundation skills are well practiced, as evidenced by her effortlessly detailed watercolors. What I admire most is that she doesn’t stop at that point, but continues pushing the image, sometimes at the risk of destruction, into something that is always epic, and continuous to test the limits of her medium with each new work.

"

Sarah Joncas

Ontario, Canada

"

I have long admired Sarah’s beautifully rendered paintings and drawings. It’s always a thrill to see her group show contributions and I’m extremely excited about her upcoming solo exhibition at the gallery this February. Each of her works are unique in their delicate, yet confident style, and tell such interesting visual stories. Sarah is an artist that has continued to evolve her approach to painting and it’s been quite incredible to see her progress in the last several years.

Michael Ryan

San Francisco, CA

"

Lastly, and most importantly, my friend Mike Ryan, painter of worlds, who was one of the most driven and talented painters that I’ve ever known. Mike and I shared a studio in 2007 and worked together on three duo exhibitions, both before and after Kim and I opened Modern Eden in 2010. Mike put everything into his works, and held nothing back. He was dedicated to the craft in a pure way, where he never compromised the integrity of his work to make sales, or to please others. He truly painted for himself. He took painting more seriously than any artist I have ever known, and I admired him immensely for it. Michael passed away last year, but his work lives on and reminds me daily that there are other worlds than this.
