Amanda Clyne received a BFA for drawing and painting with a distinction from OCAD, Toronto, in 2009. Prior to that she studied at School of Visual Arts, New York. Inspired by fashion and the history of commissioned portraiture, her work explores images that mirror of our desires. Her paintings are intended to criticize our modern obsession with beauty and persona, and to explore its affects human feelings of intimacy. She starts by reprinting found images onto a non-adhesive surface and photographing the ink as it morphs and dissolves over time. [...]
