Virginia Wagner was born in Berkeley, California, and grew up in Connecticut. She studied received a BFA from Oberlin College and is currently working towards an MFA at MICA Hoffberger School of Painting in Maryland. Her most recent series, Outpost, was inspired by travels around Iceland and research about its folklore. The sketches catalogue the places—temperatures, colors and textures—that she encountered in Iceland, while the paintings begin to construct a longer narrative, she explains.
