About Ian


Ian Cumberland was born in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, in 1983. He received a BFA with First Class Honours from University of Ulster, where he was awarded the John and Rachael Turner Award in his specialization.

Cumberland has since been awarded the KPMG Emerging Artist Award and, for his Self-Portrait, the 2010 Davy Portrait Award. One in Two has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery. His first major solo exhibition took place at the Albemarle Gallery in London in 2008.
