About Maisie

Maisie Broadhead received an MFA from the Royal College of Art in 2009.

Jewelry Depicted is a series of photographic re-interpretations of classical paintings with jewelry as its central focus.

Broadhead intends to jewelry to act as more than a prop. ‘In the flesh the jewellery is a collection of distorted and hidden half-truths,’ she says.

"looks like this one shows the different hats she wears in her life, her skills and/ or hobbies"

"Awesome, masterful use of light."

"I REALLY LIKE THIS WORK. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ARTIST TO RESURRECT THE TECHNIQUES OF THE OLD MASTERS AND I PERSONALLY AM GLAD TO SEE THE PENDULUM SWING SO FAR IN THIS DIRECTION. I ALSO LIKE TO SEE ART TELL A STORY. KEEP IT UP.COOL"

"Love the satire"

"i love these.. very Vermeer :)"

"Absolutely extraordinary. I'm so thrilled to see this quality of imaginative and creative art being produced in the 21st century. After so long a period of obtusely abstract work being in the forefront, the ability to create mystery with the traditional form is refreshing!"

"Love. It does remind me of Vermeer & I agree, the light is amazing."

"I like the use of light. It she has the feel of an old master"

"Although masterful in technique, these two appear less a reinterpretation than a one note joke, wherein the artist utilizes a different medium and different mechanics to achieve an already achieved result. Look deeper into yourself and find the truth about what you feel, rather than delving only into cleverness. Much more rewarding, and you have the tools already to do it."

"I love the baroque style of painting.I think that photographic reproductions of masterpieces are just amazing. Love love Love it!"
