Akino was born in Chiba, Japan in 1980 and graduated from Tama University Department of Graphic Design in 2003. She has been featured in solo exhibitions across Japan and Belgium and several group exhibits since moving to the US.

"It's easy to be an art critic. I like the unique style that also incorporates her culture. She has a very strong foundation. I wish the film told a more accessible story, but aesthetically it was beautiful, and though I couldn't really tell why things were happening, it was a pleasure to watch."
