About Daniel


Daniel McFarlane was born in Houston, TX. He graduated with a B.F.A. in Studio Art from Sam Houston State University and is now in his final year of study at the University of Florida. He will graduate with an M.F.A. in the spring of 2010. At Florida, Daniel has been awarded an Alumni Fellowship and instructs undergraduate studio courses in Painting and Drawing.

Not sure why the artisit chose these two images as a representation of his work - some of the stuff on his website is more interesting.

As mentioned above, the wood texture is very well executed. But the colors and composition are just so very bland. Just not my cup of tea, I guess.

complete disregard for negative space. Yet extremely well rendered wood. there's a disconnection for me here.

seriously? I would agree that the artists other works on his site are amusing however these examples look like they would be in some Brady Bunch wood paneled wall. Is this supposed to be modern?

The work is really quite ingenious. It's not suited for the medium of the web though.
