Modern technology and global communication have opened up the doors to many individuals and cultures universally. In a time where so many virtual identities are created, ‘Who am I”" becomes an important question for me. ‘Where am I from”" ‘What are my passions”" A canvas opens up that window and allows me to share that experience as a visual diary.
The combination of oil paint and oil stick allow me to build an optical layering effect of transparency to refract light throughout the canvas. This gives a sense of depth by floating two-dimensional patterns over the layers and achieves a juxtaposing surface quality throughout this series.
The symbolism and metaphors throughout the work speak of freedom, influence, escapism, glamour, addiction, heritage, engineering and craftsmanship as the canvas allows me to let one into my personal space.
