Peter Harris is an artist based in Toronto, ON, Canada.
Peter’s work has focused on the urban landscape, painted at night and devoid of human presence, for over a decade. His recent paintings contemplate how ideas of landscape painting have evolved over time, and the approach taken by artists of the past. The paintings take a voyeuristic look at modernist architecture and depict the iconic paintings of Edward Hopper hanging in the interiors. The resulting contrast between two differing takes on the urban landscape becomes a conversation between artists, an acknowledgment of the history of the genre, and a meditation on the relevance of past work to a contemporary audience.
