Dasha Valakhanovitch has an agile practice that ranges from painting, drawing and print. Her works stem from architectural form, and unearthed land. The manufactured landscape is the center of her investigation. With the minimalist and abstract approach; she studies the boundaries of culturally constructed land in junction with the traditional views of what landscape is. Valakhanovitch earned her B.F.A in painting and drawing from Concordia University. She resides in Montreal, Quebec, where she continues her practice. Dasha Valakhanovitch creates work where she confronts the traditional; she flirts with the material and builds a relationship that becomes the subject of her work. Moments with in a space are masterfully created with tension and void, depth and softness, seducing the viewer into a timeless state.
