About Omalix

Omalix is a figurative painter and conceptual photographer born in Valencia, Venezuela and based in Orlando, FL. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Central Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Painting. I patiently spend a lot of hours in front of the easel in order to bring my paintings to life. I enjoy the sleepless nights focusing on the many minute details and being able to see the meticulously slow transformation from simple brushstrokes into a finished painting. However, somewhere beyond striving to master the craft, cohabits the desire to express – through my work – all the things I want to say when words seem to fail. My current body of work employs self-portraiture as a vehicle to explore aspects of womanhood.

"The first time I found myself standing in from of one of Omalix’s works was at a group exhibition we both participated in. I was immediately struck by the textile nature of the paintings. It’s as if they are stitched together with each brush stroke, with a loving and inherently feminine touch. She approaches the female body with uninhibited love both in her process and symbology."
