Bonfilio Barbara is an Italian artist who graduated in Painting at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, Turin in 2000.
Barbara explains her work by saying, “The sources of inspiration for my paintings are literature, society, politics, life, the things I love words. I would like to communicate beauty, astonishment for a moment of reflection about the issues that are dear to me such as the exploitation of animals, the indiscriminate use of the “new science” that has led, for example, to the fact that few people know that GM foods are already on the our tables and are very harmful to our health.”
She continues, “My works always contain words, phrases or parts of text. I would say they are the backbone of the structure of the work. They are not related to the subjects of the paintings but I like to draw the viewer in with the beauty of the subject and then “spiazzarlo” with the meaning of the text and throw in food for thought.”
