Canadian born artist Ian Bodnaryk has been painting with acrylics for almost 20 years. During the beginning of his career he was influenced primarily by the natural world. His early paintings reflected this and consisted mostly of landscape elements. After seeing the work of Steve Mills, Luciano Ventrone, and Daniel Sprick, contemporary still life and high realism portraiture became his focus. Today his interests are constantly evolving, though his main focus features a common subject portrayed in an emotionally charged way. Ian’s artwork has been purchased internationally and can be found in several private collections around the world.
Ian explains his work by saying, “as an artist I have the ability to affect peoples lives in a positive way. I use portraiture, inspired by the natural beauty of a figure, to express a statement regarding cultural, spiritual or social issues. My still life focuses on composition, colour and light, showcasing the beauty found in everyday objects.”
"Ian is fascinated with art and the natural world, and it shows in his paintings. I love the painting of the story of Alice in Wonderland under the light bulb. Reminds me of glorious nights at the cottage on Lake Muskoka."
