About Caroline

Caroline Hwang is a Brooklyn-based artist who paints and sews collages, creating images that express human emotion, self-reflection, and the strength and difficulty of relationships.

Hwang’s method reads like one that would yield abstract or messy results: painted fabric, covered in embroidery, drawing and yet more painting. The results, however, seem very deliberate, recalling the comic book art that has been one of her main influences. Her work often portrays colorful domestic scenes, with human figures as well as symbolic elements, and touches of melancholy and whimsy.

It's illustration, not fine art.

These are wonderful pieces, individually and as a group.

Its cool. And she achieved what a lot of artists strive for: Her own particular stile. It may be considered something like collage, but embroidery is pretty original, at least in a painting. So thumbs up from me.

It is refreshing to see artists working in collage and using needle and thread. I love the natural elements added to the interiors.

Suicide is sad and anger is the only healthy response. But we can be merciful. The paper doesn't look archival and it is important for young people to make their impulsve art on good paper. I made the mistake; don't you.

This is amazing. I really like this artwork. Things like this should be on one of the posse's blogs. Like that good. :)
