Chelsea Brown was born in Manhattan in 1988 and raised in New Jersey. She received a degree in costume design from UC Santa Barbara.
She has been drawing since before she can remember, and makes a point to draw something every day. Her inspiration comes from supernatural phenomena, rituals, and cosmology myths. Native American culture and aesthetic is a large part of her latest work. She identifies with nature, animals and strong female figures.
In her work, Brown seeks to highlight the ability of human beings to perceive beyond our immediate reality, and its bearing on how cultures develop. Simultaneously, she strives to emphasize how inexorably we are linked to nature and rely on our planet for survival.
Brown currently lives in San Francisco.
