Aralyn McGregor specializes in oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting, as well as dry media. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from the University of North Texas School of Visual Arts.
Her recent paintings deal with the flaws of memory and perception through atmospheric and figurative juxtaposition. To this end, she combines detailed photo-realism with strong elements of abstraction and surrealism.
By combining technically tight, classical figures and faces with abstract layers, the paintings appear to be naturally deteriorating or intentionally damaged. The result is often both beautiful and unsettling.
McGregor find inspiration in her own inconsistent memory and in attempts to establish connections with others people.
She teaches middle and high school art at Williams Preparatory in Dallas.
