Shaun Anderson was born in 1985 in Santa Barbara, California, and received a BFA from Academy of Art University, San Francisco, in 2007.
His Influential Pigment series is a comment on advertising and its everyday influence. Using an intentionally fierce color scheme of neon enamel, oil and other media, it aims to emphasize the contrast between simple beach huts and wilderness with ‘the juggernaut that is American Capitalism.’
With nods to Katz’s neo-expressionist nature, Ruscha’s mass media commentary and Doig’s dream-like magical realism, Anderson aspires in his creative practice to express commentary that is at once honest and heart-felt.
His work has been exhibited in California.
