Pamela Wilson received an MFA in photography from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1992, distinguished by a Regent’s Fellowship. Prior to that she studied studio art at San Diego State University.
Wilson strives to evoke a sense of the sublime and otherworldly—moods and memories inspired by personal experience. The turmoil her painted figures find themselves in represents the dark and sometimes humorous absurdities that we endure on our journey to becoming fully formed.
Her work has been exhibited since 1992 in galleries across New York, Chicago, Miami, Philadelphia, California, and Santa Fe, and also in museums, including the National Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.
"She is a master of value, her paintings are lit in a way that defines mood and subject."
