About Ben


Ben Grasso was born in 1979 in Cleveland, Ohio. He holds a MFA in painting from Hunter College and a BFA from Cleveland Institute of Art.

His numerous accolades include the 2003 The Helen Greene Perry Memorial Traveling Scholarship, the 2002 Joseph McCullough Painting Scholarship Award, and the 2001 Carl Gaertner Memorial Prize.

His work has been exhibited across the United States and in Europe and featured and reviewed by Art in America, Harper’s Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail, Guernica magazine, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

He lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Awesome technique, realism. Subject matter is not too original but executed in such a way you can see the movement. It is brilliant.

Ben I watch this site everyday and was delightfully surprised to see your work on here!. Your work is amazing I'm glad to see how successful you are!
@ dugganr: I went to school with Ben and it is correct that he got his BFA from CIA and MFA at Hunter. Cleveland didn't have a MFA program when we were there.

He must have a BFA from Hunter College and an MFA from Cleveland Institute of Art, not the other way around.
